A few items of note:

  • Pastor Rick Warren who had been criticized for not speaking out against the proposed “anti-homosexuality” bill in Uganda, has now lent his voice to the growing chorus of those condemning the proposal.  Warren says in his video message that he is speaking to “bear witness to our Christian values, and to express our condemnation of an injustice in which groups and leaders within the American Christian community are being implicated.”
  • California’s Assembly is expected to select their first openly gay man as Speaker later today.  Assemblyman John Perez represents Los Angeles and local leaders say his selection as Speaker will have a profound impact.
  • The Austrian Parliament today passed legislation allowing same-sex couples to enter into civil unions.  The bill will go into effect January 1.
  • Houston Mayoral Candidate Annise Parker continues to be the target of an anti-gay campaign because she is a lesbian.
