Reminder: Join in Transgender Day of Remembrance Events TODAY

As we posted about earlier this week, today is the 11th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance which helps make visible the thousands of transgender people and their loved ones that hate has tried so violently to erase.  In the last 12 months alone, over 90 transgender people have lost their lives to prejudice and hate.

As HRC Associate Director of Diversity Allyson Robinson wrote:

For many of you – perhaps most of you – Transgender Day of Remembrance asks you to do something to which you’re not completely accustomed.  It asks you to empathize with an experience that is different from your own, and to move beyond empathy to action.  It asks you to stand with those who are different from you and to stand for those who can no longer stand for themselves.  It asks you to be what we in this movement for LGBT equality have asked others – our straight friends, neighbors, and family members – to be for us.  It asks you to be an ally.
