murphy_close-flagMost days that the U.S. House is in session, Members take to the floor to discuss important issues after the day’s legislative business is finished.  This evening, Rep. Patrick Murphyis organizing members to deliver these “special order speeches” on the military’s discriminatory “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy that weakens our national security and kicks out qualified servicemembers solely based on their sexual orientation.  The speeches are expected to begin around 9pm and can be viewed live on C-SPAN.

Rep. Murphy is the first Iraq War veteran elected to Congress and is leading the effort to repeal the military’s ban on gay and lesbian servicemembers.  Currently 176 members of the House are co-sponsors of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act (H.R.1283).
