Last week, university students from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine had the chance to cast their ballots early, and right from their student union on campus. The No on One Campaign teamed up with the Bowdoin College Dems to bring the Brunswick Town Clerk on campus for four hours last Saturday morning. Teams of student volunteers worked to create a buzz on campus all week, urging students to vote through postering, phone banks and even sneaking into classrooms before classes to write messages on the chalkboards. As a result, more than 400 students, nearly 25% of the student population, came out to cast their No votes on Question 1. The lines were stretching out of the building for the final 2 hours of voting, prompting even the mascot to come check out the ruckus around the polls. Check out the local news coverage of the event.
