DC Marriage Hearing Beginning – Watch Live

The DC Council is holding its first hearing on the marriage equality bill today starting at 3:30 pm eastern.  View the live webcast on the Council’s website.

HRC’s Sultan Shakir has an update from the hearing room and I’ll post his additional thoughts as they come in:

The hearing has begun.  Supporters of marriage equality clearly outnumber those who believe same-sex couples should continue to be denied marriage equality.  Today, 100 of the 269 people signed up to testify will speak about marriage equality in the district.  Members of the council have already spoken in support of marriage equality.  The first 4 testifyers have come to the table and so far, support is clearly on our side.
