Final Chance to Encourage End to HIV Travel Ban

As we told you back at the end of June, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) at long last issued a proposed regulation that would end our nation’s discriminatory ban on HIV-positive visitors and immigrants. We issued a national action alert encouraging all our members to submit comments in support of removing the ban, and the response was tremendous — nearly 18,000 people have already taken action… HRC members and supporters have provided the vast majority of comments in support of lifting the ban!
On Monday, the comment period will close and HHS and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will review the comments and then issue a final regulation. There’s still time for you to tell HHS that you support ending this ban, which serves no public health purpose and stigmatizes people with HIV and AIDS. TAKE ACTION – it only takes a minute!
Thanks to HRC Senior Counsel Brian Moulton for this post.
