Suit Filed Over DC Elections Board Marriage Referendum Decision
Monday’s decision by the DC Board of Elections and Ethics to block a ballot measure on recognizing legal marriages performed elsewhere, opponents of equality wasted no time going to court to challenge their decision. According to the Washington Post , Bishop Harry Jackson is leading the charge in the lawsuit filed in DC Superior Court today.
If the effort to force a referendum on the question is not successful and barring congressional action, the law will take effect in early July.
