This post from HRC local leaders in South Florida:

FL_Stonewall-OP-Pride-ProcThe City of Oakland Park, Florida issued a Gay Pride Proclamation yesterday in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion.   The Human Rights Campaign’s Paul Palmer (a member of the Board of Governors for South Florida) received the proclamation from recently elected City Commissioner Antony Niedwiecki.  Joining Paul were members of Pride of Greater Ft. Lauderdale, Dolphin Democrats and Fight Out Loud.

In honor of this historic Pride month, HRC is hosting a free outdoor film event this Friday in the newly dedicated Jaco Pastorius Park in downtown Oakland Park.  The feature film, “Before Stonewall,” is a colorful documentary of the struggles of the LGBT civil rights movement leading up to the Stonewall Rebellion in Greenwich Village, NY in June of 1969.   To learn more about, “Cinema Under the Stars”  visit the HRC South Florida website.
