Today Karl and I ventured to a more conservative part of the district, Hampton Bays. Despite local warnings that we might find less support, we were pleasantly surprised to find several local business owners and constituents willing to write letters of support. In fact, owner after owner recommended other businesses for us to visit!
After gathering several more hand-written letters, we met up with Meghan Bishop, Congressman Tim Bishop’s daughter. She was extremely helpful and offered a wealth of information and tips. Meghan’s sister, Molly, is soon to marry her long time partner. We certainly wish the soon-to-be couple all the best. Hopefully, we’ll soon deliver a decisive marriage equality victory as a wedding gift!
Leaving Hampton Bays, we headed back to Southampton where we stopped by a few businesses to follow up on previous visits. Departing Southampton, in Tony the trusted PT Cruiser, we jetted back to Port Jefferson for a community meeting and mayoral debate. On June 16th voters in Port Jefferson will decide their next mayor. We were pleased to run into Margot Garant, one of the candidates. As you can see from the picture, she was extremely supportive!
Tomorrow we will be joining dozens of local supporters at a letter writing house party in Southampton. Keep an eye out for updates and pictures from what is sure to be a great event.
