The momentum for marriage equality is on track in New York State.  Just this morning, HRC volunteers were canvassing at the Hempstead Long Island Rail Road station collecting signatures for equal marriage in the Empire State.

In other news, State Sen. Tom Duane told the New York Daily News today that he’s confident the votes are there:

Sen. Thomas Duane (D-Manhattan) said he’s received assurances of support from more than the 32 senators needed to approve the bill.”I have the votes,” said Duane, who predicted the Senate would vote on the matter before the end of its session this month.

Duane declined to say which senators had agreed to support the bill, but said the list included some Republicans.

Efforts to put a human face on the issue are also going well, evidenced by the article “Gay couples call on NY Senate to OK same-sex marriage” in Newsday this morning.
