The Washington Blade reported on Tuesday that David Medina, a member of HRC's public policy committee, has been selected to serve as deputy chief of staff to Michelle Obama.

This latest news of Medina's likely appointment continues the buzz of recent days around President-elect Obama's transition team plans to place LGBT people in key posts in his administration.  Earlier this week, the Washington Post's Al Kamen noted that National Zoo director John Berry is slated to become director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), putting him in position to manage the largest civilian workforce in our country.

Additionally, on January 8, the Advocate reported that Brian Bond will be named deputy director of the Office of Public Liaison. HRC learned the next day that Fred Hochberg, an openly gay man and former head of the Small Business Administrationwill be named chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States.
