HRC, No on Proposition 8 campaign calling on California voters to defend equality

October 14, 2008

Special thanks to Che Tabisola, program manager of HRC's research center, for this latest update on HRC members working with the No on 8 campaign at the local level to defeat Proposition 8 in California:

PridepicThousands of Los Angelenos filled LA Valley Pride on Sunday, Oct. 12 — just 23 days before Election Day and the historic vote on California Proposition 8, which if passed will eliminate the right to marry for gay and lesbian couples.

HRC Los Angeles Steering Committee members Bob Mason and Sue La Vaccare joined volunteers from the No on Prop 8 campaign at Pride to raise money and sign up more than 100 people to call voters from phone banks at the Woodland Hills and Silver Lake campaign offices. Talking with voters is one most important things people can do to help beat the marriage ban.

HRC is one of dozens of members of the coalition comprising the No on Prop 8 campaign. Phone banks are happening in offices all over the Golden State every day. To learn more about a phone bank near you, click here.
