7daysgraphicIt’s Day Two of our "7 Days to a Better Financial You" campaign. Today at 12 p.m. EST, Daryl Herrschaft, director of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Workplace Project will lead virtual townhall to help employers and GLBT employees learn how to maximize the value of their organization’s benefits.

Financial planner Joe Kapp of Lincoln Financial Advisors; James Delaplane of Davis & Harman, LLP; and Diego Sanchez, one of the newest members of HRC’s Business Council, will also share their expertise during the webinar.

This virtual town hall will introduce two new resources from the Workplace Project of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation designed to:

  • Teach workers and their employers how to take full advantage of new provisions in the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (.pdf).
  • Provide participants with a template proposal to “gross-up” wages to offset the tax burden of enrolling for domestic partner health insurance benefits.

The town hall will also feature an overview of financial planning issues for GLBT people and their families, as well as an overview of HRC’s federal legislative efforts to secure equal tax treatment of GLBT families.

Diego Sanchez, who also serves as co-chair of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition, will discuss financial issues that specifically affect transgender individuals.

We’ll post materials from the town hall here on Back Story this afternoon.
