The very fabulous Vanessa Williams will be receiving the HRC Ally for Equality Award at the HRC gala dinner in New York on February 23.   We're pretty excited to have her.  Vanessa is a good friend of our community: (http://www.mygayweb.com/interviews/story/?ID=76):

Q: How do you feel about gay marriage?

A: I have no problem with it. I completely support it. I have many gay friends that are married. Close male friends of mine have been living together as a couple for over 20 years, and they have adopted a beautiful baby girl who is now 3-years old. They are fantastic parents. Other gay couples I know are also looking to adopt. And then I have single gay friends who are adoptive parents.

In October, HRC honored the show "Ugly Betty" with an HRC Arts & Culture Award at the 2007 HRC National Dinner where Vanessa’s co-stars Rebecca Romijn and Michael Urie accepted the award and rocked the house.

Idina Menzel, singer and Tony Award-winning actress, is also going to perform.
